Overview
This one-day workshop leverages a community hospital as the central hub to engage stakeholders from congregate living, hospital, health care coalition, and other organizations to learn, discuss, and address issues related to evacuation plans and procedures.
Anticipated Approach
HAPevolve will leverage its connection to the hospital community to identify facilities interested in serving as the catalyst and hub for the event. From there, HAPevolve will work with LTC RISE Partners, RISE participants, and other stakeholders in the defined region to join an in-person event that focuses on evacuation best practices.
This event is designed to be replicable across multiple areas and is divided into two key sections. The first section focuses on education and training around evacuation best practices, and the second section is designed to provide stakeholders an opportunity to discuss their specific evacuation plans. HAPevolve will facilitate a session that provides high level education as to evacuation planning best practices and pitfalls and will then lead the group in an exercise designed to highlight specific weaknesses and strengths.
Anticipated Outcomes
- Attendees will gain increased understanding of evacuation best practices, common pitfalls, and regional resources available to them.
- Attendees will gain improved knowledge of emergency management principles, incident command structures, and crisis communication strategies as well as their practical application in care facilities.
- Session will foster better connection between local and regional stakeholders across various key groups.
- Attendees will gain improved understanding of other stakeholder’s evacuation plans and capabilities, which will further enable improvement of their own plans and processes.
- Session will provide an opportunity to connect stakeholders within a region to further collaborate on common issues.
